SUMMARY:Robotics Boot Camp at Wheaton Library- Media Lab
DESCRIPTION:Registration is required. Space is limited.Join us for an introductory robotics program presented by two Walter Johnson High School juniors! As technology continues to shape our world\, skills in STEM—especially robotics\, AI\, and engineering—are becoming increasingly essential. At the same time\, learning these skills can be a fun and rewarding experience for kids. This program aims to: spark interest in STEM in our community\, while creating a space for children who may not be able to learn robotics on their own\, and to learn to work as a team to pursue a common goal!Participants will:1st Session: Robot building\, overview of code blocks\, basic movement (turns\, speed adjustment) includes challenges like making a robot\, and a square shape with movement2nd Session: Sensors (sensors explained\, types of sensors\, uses of the sensors\, and then tasks in which sensors need to be used)3rd Session: Attachments (purpose of attachments\, different types of attachments\, attachment mechanics\, coding attachments)4th Session: Introduce and start working on the previous First Lego League challenges for the competition. Finish working on challenges and hold a competition between the 2 teams!Questions about this program? Contact the branch (240) 777-0678.Find out how to Get a Library Card to take full advantage of MCPL’s many resources!Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child. If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more\, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.Accommodation RequestsTo request an accommodation\, contact the library branch where you want the accommodation.
