SUMMARY:Savoring Science: From Sun to Supper with Photosynthesis
DESCRIPTION:Savoring Science is a hands-on workshop for curious young scientists to explore concepts that make up the food we love. In this month’s workshop\, we’ll learn how energy from the sun powers every bite of food we eat. Designed for elementary school students\, this workshop connects science and snacks through the concept of photosynthesis—how plants convert sunlight into food—and follows the energy journey through the food chain. \nYouth will observe how light affects plants\, sequence the journey from sun to supper\, explore oxygen bubbles in a photosynthesis-in-a-jar demo\, and sort snacks based on whether they come directly from plants or through animals. We’ll conclude with a creative art activity where students draw their own sun-powered meals and reflect on how food is connected to nature and energy. \nThis program makes energy science fun\, relatable\, and interactive—perfect for young learners exploring the world around (and inside!) them—part of the Savoring Science monthly workshop series at the Chesapeake Children’s Museum. \nRegister here.   https://www.theccm.org/event-details/savoring-science-from-sun-to-supper-with-photosynthesis \n
