SUMMARY:Spooky STEM Challenge: "Survive the Ghost Wind"
DESCRIPTION:Kids become engineers tasked with building a structure strong enough to withstand a blast of "ghost wind" (a fan). It introduces basic engineering\, problem-solving\, and teamwork in a fun\, Halloween-themed way. Introduce the idea of engineers designing structures to handle forces like wind\, explore the materials at their disposal\, plan/sketch based on different discussed criteria (base\, height\, shape\, etc.)\, then build their structure. A fan will be used to test the strength of their building. Afterwards\, discuss simple engineering ideas and key takeaways from the challenge. Extra challenge: design it to be a haunted house. \n\nRegistration opens two weeks prior to the program date. Access registration through the events calendar on our website (Cecilton).
