Exploring the Atmosphere

Description:
Travel into hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and other parts of Earth’s atmosphere with the NOAA/NASA Joint Polar Satellite System in this virtual program! Learn about how Earth’s water cycle influences weather and storm formation while crafting molecules that satellites detect using everyday items from home.

Participants can gather basic materials from around the house in advance or while the activity is progress. Use your imagination and find items that are white, black, blue, red, purple, green, and yellow.

Some suggestions include:

Crayons and paper
Construction paper
Play doh
Legos
