Build and Test a Vortex Generator Physics Demonstration!

Description:
In this virtual/hands-on workshop, participants will build and test their own vortex generator, often called a air cannon. Participants will learn the exciting physics behind this cool demonstration! NOTE: Materials kits can be picked up at the University of Maryland, College Park. More information on logistics can be found on the registration form and follow up emails. This event is part of the UMD Makerspace Initiative and supported by Physics Vortex Makerspace!

The Magic of Scratch – An Introduction

Description:
Learn how to create your own animations by coding in Scratch. A beginners training to program in scratch.
For students in grade 1 and 2, an adult is required to present with the student for entire training. For students in grades 3 and 4, an adult may be required to help their student connect to the training, help with arranging the multiple windows on the screen and anything else the student may need in following the training.

A personal laptop or a personal desktop computer is required. Students will be displaying 2 adjacent windows - One of the training and one for their own code.

By registering for the training, the adult gives permission to use pictures from the training for social media purposes and for the robotics team's engineering notebook.

All chat messages must be limited to matters related to the training.

Fab Lab Baltimore at CCBC!

Description:
Join the Community College of Baltimore County’s (CCBC) Fab Lab Manager, Jennifer Kim, as she demonstrates how faculty and staff from Fab Lab Baltimore and the CCBC Computer-Automated Manufacturing Program teamed up to help out during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic to produce over 2,500 masks and over 1,500 shields for area hospitals, first responders, and vulnerable populations. Afterwards, Ms. Kim will show off some of our 3D printing capabilities and how it is used to prototype machine components before going into production.

Computer-Automated Manufacturing Program at CCBC!

Join the Community College Baltimore County’s (CCBC) Computer-Automated Manufacturing Program Coordinator, Bill Werneke, as he demonstrates the use of a Computer-Numerically Controlled (CNC) Mill to produce a final product component from a previously prototyped Stirling Engine part. Mr. Werneke will discuss the principles behind how a Stirling Engine works and how students in the program learn to machine all the parts to build a fully functioning engine of their own.
