DESCRIPTION:Visit Davis Library between November 2nd and November 21st to pick up your challenge supply bag and entry form! Use the items in the bag to create a building of your choice. Drop off your entry anytime between December 5th-9th. Entries will be on display during our Design Challenge Showcase on December 10th for voting. For middle and high school students. Challenge bags are while supplies last.Things to know about your design entry:1. You’re welcome to use any type of glue or tape to hold your structure together and paint\, markers\, or crayons to decorate. All other materials must come from the challenge supply bag.2. You can design any building. Be creative and dream big.3. SUMMARY:Little Plein Air at Adkins Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:Plein air painting isn’t just for grown-ups. At Plein Air Adkins\, young artists can try their hand at making art en plein air\, or “in the open air.”\n \nLittle Plein Air is a free event open to artists aged 3–12\, all skill levels welcome. Maryland Stem Festival participants must be registered online. This is not a drop-off program. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Adults may check-in their kids at the Visitor’s Center at 10:30 am. If your child needs less than an hour to create their masterpiece\, feel free to arrive later.\n \nKids are welcome to bring their own art supplies\, or borrow from the Arboretum. The following supplies will be available:\nCrayons\nMarkers\nColored pencils\nWatercolor paints\nPrinter paper\nCardstock\nClipboards\nDrawing boards\nAdults should help their child find a special place outside to create. They can sit at a picnic table\, on the Meadow Overlook\, on a bridge\, or anywhere they feel inspired! At 11:30 am\, Little Plein Air artists will meet at the picnic tables behind the Visitor’s Center to showcase their work. Every artist will receive a prize and a personalized superlative.\n \nAt the conclusion of Little Plein Air\, kids and their adults are welcome to observe Plein Air Adkins artists and stay to watch the judging.

This class will cover project design utilizing Makera's congruent software\, MakeraCAM\, along with other compatible software available at Exploration Commons. There will be a break from 12 to 1 PM between the morning and afternoon sessions.\n\nAll program registrants must complete the Prerequisite Module for the In-Person Carvera Desktop CNC Class before attending this program.\n\nCustomers aged 12 to 15 who complete their certification are required to have a certified adult with them to use the Carvera CNC independently.

SUMMARY:AI Explorers: Understanding Artificial Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is changing the way we learn\, create\, communicate\, and solve problems. Join Wicomico Public Library for a four-part virtual series during the Maryland STEM Festival designed for tweens and teens ages 11–17. \nThrough interactive activities\, live demonstrations\, discussions\, and hands-on challenges\, participants will explore how AI works\, how chatbots are trained\, why AI sometimes gets things wrong\, and what responsible AI use looks like. We’ll examine real-world examples of artificial intelligence and discuss the opportunities and challenges these technologies create for our future. \nParticipants may attend individual sessions or the entire series. Sessions will be recorded and made available on the library website. Saturdays: 10/17\, 10/24\, 11/7\, and 11/14 at 2:00.
