Join students and faculty in the School of the Sciences at Stevenson University for an afternoon of STEM fun at the Chemistry Magic Show (2-3 pm) and Mathstravaganza (3-4 pm). Both events are free, open to the public, and will take place in the South side of the Manning Academic Center on the Owings Mills North Campus of Stevenson University.
Chemistry Magic Show (2-3 PM) – The event will include exciting chemistry experiments that will be accessible to all ages and scientific backgrounds. Some of the experiments include Elephant Toothpaste, Fun with Dry Ice, Burning Money, and Gummy Bear Explosion. The science behind each experiment will be explained by undergraduate students from the SU American Chemical Society club.
Mathstravaganza (3-4 PM) – The event will include several interactive math exhibits and games which will be accessible to all ages and mathematical backgrounds. Some of the interactive exhibits include a giant Tower of Hanoi mathematical puzzle, the Chaos Game fractal generator, a station to create minimal surfaces with soap bubbles, a Prisoner’s Dilemma simulation, the Monty Hall Jellybeans probability game, and Buffon’s Pixy Stix.
