Baltimore County 4-H invites everyone to our next homeschool STEM event on October 15th from 1- 3 p.m. at the Ag Center, 1114 Shawan Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030.
The theme is STEM Trailblazers: Innovation and Discovery. At this event, we will highlight Hispanic STEM pioneers. For this fair-style event, we will highlight the scientist, share their contribution and have hands-on activities to complement the learning. Here are a few hints about topics that may be covered: Nobel Prize Awardee, space, television, and peppers. Activities are more geared to 6- to 18-year-olds. Learn how corn grows and compare the differences between field corn, sweet corn, and popcorn. Observe corn kernels, take part in simple hands-on experiments, and discover the science behind popping corn as you make and enjoy fresh popcorn. Presented by the University of Maryland Extension. Ages 5-11.
In this combination makerspace/teaching kitchen class, learn to create your own custom seasonal butter molds. You will start in the makerspace and use our Vaquform machine along with preprinted festive fall shapes to make a custom mold. We will then head to the teaching kitchen to whip up delicious flavored butters and fill our newly created molds. Your final shaped butters will make a fun custom addition for your holiday table.
