The Hackathon is an event where participating kids compete in cyber challenges including python coding, password cracking, internet browsing, and more! The target ages for the event are 8-18, and no previous coding knowledge is necessary! Participants will compete to earn swag and prizes as they learn about a broad variety of cyber security topics!

But how do foundational computer science concepts translate into real-world AI applications and high-impact career opportunities?
Join us for an interactive virtual panel hosted by UMBC’s Computer Science undergraduate program at UMBC-Shady Grove. Featuring a panel of student alumni and leading industry partners, this event explores the rise of artificial intelligence, its expanding role across the workplace, and how classroom lessons directly power career success.
This free online workshop introduces the shift from static prompts to dynamic, decision-making AI agents. We will cover key concepts behind agentic AI, including reasoning-action loops, and implement them using Python and ReACT. Through concrete examples, you will see how to build systems that can think, act, and adapt.
At our workshop, participants will be able to learn about FTC, the advantages of doing robotics, and how to join. They will also get to drive our competition robot from the past season.
Learn how to use the 3D printing program Blender and experiment with 3D pens to make a real 3D sculpture of your own! Grades 6-12.
Please note that 3D printing takes time! Attendees will be contacted a few weeks after the program to pick up their creation from the library.

Today, they pervade the worlds of both science fiction and science fact, from “Robocop” to rovers on Mars. Join us as astronomer Rich Isaacman leads us on a journey from the earliest fictitious robots to the sophisticated electronic creatures currently exploring the very outermost reaches of our Solar System.
