We are Montgomery County STEM Volunteer Program, a local non profit organization (501 c3) that places working and retired STEM professionals with MCPS teachers to bring the real world into the classroom to give students a better understanding of what they learn in the classroom and how it applies to the world around them. We are currently recruiting volunteers for the 2026-27 school year and will be holding our new volunteer training/information meeting on Oct 27, 2026, 9.00am-Noon via Zoom (Zoom link available on request). It’s time to put your photo and video editing skills to work! Come in and utilize library resources and edit your photographs and video with the help of a STEAM instructor. Register online!
We will build Lego models and then experiment and rebuild to get different results.
We will focus on Newton’s Laws with each build.
This will take the full hour so please make every effort to be on time.
Dive into the world of special effects, through the view of a Makeup Artist! Students will learn the history and science behind the film industry’s own movie magic. Learn about the chemicals that are found in the cosmetics used to create monsters and zombies in the movies, and then create your own design using DIY monster cosmetics! Taught by a STEAM instructor.
